Vanessa Misciagna is an award-winning video journalist and national correspondent based in the Pacific Northwest for Scripps News. She has been with the company since May 2021. In her roles with Scripps, Vanessa has travelled all over the country with her cameras, shooting stories as a one-woman production crew that have a people-focused approach.
Before her time at Scripps, she was an anchor, reporter, and video journalist for Seattle’s KING-TV. While she was there, she was on a team that won various awards, including a Peabody Award and Scripps Howard Award, for the series Facing Race, which took a hard look at how racial inequality impacts the lives of Washingtonians. She also is an EMMY and Edward R. Murrow award winner. Her career started in Vermont and Northern New York as an anchor and reporter for WPTZ, where she covered many stories over six years, including a two-week long man-hunt for a pair of escaped prisoners that grabbed the nation’s attention and travelled along with Vermont Senator Bernie Sander’s 2016 campaign.
She’s a cum laude graduate of Boston University and grew up in Simsbury, Connecticut. When she’s not interviewing people and shooting video, she’s out enjoying the incredible natural scenery of Washington State. She’s an avid mountain biker, backpacker, and skier. She has a soft spot for animals and has a rescue dog named Milo who’s been by her side through multiple cross-country moves for almost a decade.
