The last big economic report before the midterm elections was a strong one.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' latest jobs report, the U.S. economy added 250,000 jobs in October, beating analysts' expectations. Many of those new jobs came from the health care, manufacturing and construction industries.

The unemployment rate also stayed at 3.7 percent, which is a 49-year-low.

Last month, the Labor Department said Hurricane Florence might have impacted the lower-than-expected job growth. But that wasn't the case in October, with Hurricane Michael in the Florida panhandle having "no discernible effect" on the results.

President Donald Trump took the opportunity to tweet about the report, saying, in part, "These are incredible numbers. Keep it going, Vote Republican!"

Republicans have been highlighting strong economic data as proof for voters that Trump administration economic policies are working.
