On Monday, the U.S. Department of Defense announced the death of an Army Reserve military police officer in Saudi Arabia.
Specialist Clayton James Horne of Atlanta, Louisiana, died Saturday in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh due to a non-combat-related incident.
Horne was not only a military police officer but also a deputy for the Winn Parish Sheriff's Office in his hometown.
The sheriff said in a public Facebook post: "Clayton was serving the Army in Saudi Arabia and fell off of a tower. Clayton was an excellent Deputy and I was looking forward to him completing his tour and returning to work at the Sheriff's Office. ... Please keep his family and friends in your prayers during this most difficult time."
Horne was in Saudi Arabia as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S. military intervention against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. He was 23.
