College students filing for federal financial aid can now file their application on mobile devices for the first time.

The myStudentAid mobile app from the U.S. Department of Education launched Monday, the same day FAFSA submissions opened up for the 2019-2020 school year.

Officials say the app was developed to make it easier for the millions of students who file a FAFSA every year, especially those from low-income backgrounds who might not have a computer or internet access at home.

When using the app, questions will appear one page at a time and students will be able to finish the application using their computer. It is available for both iOS and Android devices. For those that don't want to download the app, FAFSA's website has also been revamped to work better on mobile devices.

Students can submit their FAFSA until the end of June 2019, but some states have their own deadlines.
