Conagra Brands has voluntarily recalled several kinds of cake mix because of possible salmonella contamination.

The voluntary recall applies to four kinds of Duncan Hines cake mixes: Classic White, Classic Yellow, Classic Butter Golden and Signature Confetti. All of the recalled mixes have a "Best if Used By" date of March 7-13, 2019.

The FDA and CDC are investigating at least five cases of salmonella that may be linked to the mixes. Government officials say several of the people who became sick told health investigators they ate cake mix before their symptoms began.

According to the FDA, Salmonella is an organism that may cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.
