The U.S. government is arranging plans for a flight to evacuate Americans from the Chinese city of Wuhan on Sunday, according to multiple reports.

Wuhan is battling the deadly outbreak of the mysterious coronavirus that has infected over 1,000 people worldwide and is responsible for the deaths of at least 41 people so far.

Multiple major cities throughout China are on lockdown as travel restrictions have been imposed and officials have closed public spaces to limit the spread of the virus. The U.S. State Department has also ordered a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for the area.

The infection may start with common cold symptoms but can quickly develop into a fatal respiratory illness like pneumonia.

So far, coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in Australia, France and the U.S.
