The New York Times reports President Donald Trump's lawyers want him to refuse to sit down with special counsel Robert Mueller to talk about the Russia investigation.

The report comes just under two weeks after the president told reporters he was looking forward to talking with Mueller. That comment was followed by Trump's lawyer reportedly saying he would decide if the president gave an interview.

If Mueller wants to talk to the president and Trump refuses, it could set off a legal battle. According to the Times, the president's lawyers don't think Mueller would be willing to pursue that.
