SHOW TRANSCRIPT

For the first time in over 200 years, Christmas Mass will not be held at Notre Dame Cathedral.

The famous Paris church has been closed since April, after a massive fire broke out and destroyed its spire and roof. A cathedral rector told The Associated Press that the building will remain closed throughout the holidays, adding that it will be "the first time since the French Revolution that there will be no midnight Mass."

However, a service for the church's congregation is planned to be held at a neighboring church at midnight on Dec. 24.
