Months after being nominated for the position by President Donald Trump, State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert has withdrawn herself from consideration for the position of U.N. ambassador.
Nauert was nominated by President Trump on Twitter in December, but her formal nomination hadn't been sent to the Senate when she dropped out of consideration.
Citing unnamed officials, CNN reports Nauert had previously employed a nanny who didn't have an appropriate work visa and was worried that information could stall her confirmation.
In a statement from the State Department, Nauert said, "The past two months have been grueling for my family and therefore it is in the best interest of my family that I withdraw my name from consideration."
CNN reports Nauert is not expected to return to her position at the State Department.
