Monsoon flooding and landslides in South Asia have left over 100 people dead in India and Nepal. Officials in Pakistan and Bangladesh say over 40 people have died from lightning strikes.

Some 6.7 million people in India are affected by the widespread floods. Flood waters have submerged over two million acres of farmland, killed livestock and damaged homes and infrastructure. People are taking shelter on higher ground, in places like schools and temples.

India's National Disaster Management Authority is warning people to be prepared for floods with first aid kits and other supplies. The agency also suggests residents disinfect their homes after flooding to "ensure cleanliness," use mosquito nets to prevent malaria and avoid fallen power lines

Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers are in Bangladesh, India and Nepal to help deliver emergency supplies.
