Mexico inaugurated its new president Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Saturday. In his inaugural speech, López Obrador promised a "radical transformation" of the country.

His stated plans include establishing a new law enforcement agency, increasing the country's oil production, and sweeping anti-corruption measures. López Obrador made fighting corruption a central promise of his campaign, resulting in a sweeping victory for him and his leftist political party.

The inauguration was not without controversy, though. Some attendees booed the presence of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, whose invitation was also criticized by former Mexican President Felipe Calderón.

U.S. politicians in attendance included Vice President Mike Pence. While López Obrador has criticized the Trump administration's immigration policies as racist, in his speech Saturday he said he hoped to collaborate with the U.S. and Canada on stabilizing Central America.
