President Trump Praised A Tax Reform Bill That Doesn't Exist

On Thursday, President Donald Trump had nothing but good things to say about a certain tax bill.

"Our tax bill is moving along in Congress, and I believe it's doing very well. I think a lot of people will be very pleasantly surprised," Trump said. "The Republicans are working very, very hard. We'd love to have support from the Democrats, but we may have to go it alone. But it's going very well."

Problem is, that bill doesn't exist yet.

The Trump administration and Republican lawmakers have said they hope to pass a tax reform plan this year.

But no tax bill of any kind has been introduced in the House or the Senate. And the White House has only released a one-page summary of its proposal.

GOP leaders have decided to focus on repealing and replacing former President Barack Obama's signature health care law before tackling tax reform.

But even Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said he doesn't know if Senate Republicans will be able to get the votes needed to pass an Obamacare replacement bill.
