Congressional Democrats didn't hold back on criticizing President Donald Trump in their new  report on Russian meddling.

Sen. Ben Cardin, ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, wrote: "Never before in American history has so clear a threat to national security been so clearly ignored by a U.S. president."

The 200-page report released Wednesday details Russian interference efforts in the U.S. and Europe. The lawmakers behind it want to call attention to what they believe are increasing national security threats.

The report calls out Trump for purported negligence in dealing with Russian President Vladimir Putin. It reads, "The U.S. President continues to deny that any such threat exists, creating a leadership vacuum in our own government and among our European partners and allies."

Lawmakers outline a series of steps the U.S. could take, starting with Trump taking a hard- line stance on his administration's policy toward Russia.
