The CDC issued an unusual warning Friday as the number of serious vaping-related lung illnesses rise.

The agency is warning against using vaping ingredients bought on the street and modifying e-cigarette products or adding any substances to the products that are not intended by the manufacturer.

The CDC warning went further. It advised teenagers and pregnant women to never use e-cigarettes.

The warning comes as the number of potential vaping-related illnesses hit 215 across 25 states.

Popular e-cigarette company Juul is facing a separate challenge with attorneys general across the country. Illinois and Washington, D.C., are the latest to investigate the company's marketing practices, bringing the total number of investigations to at least five.
