California Democrats have decided not to endorse senior U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein in her bid for re-election.

Fifty-four percent of delegates endorsed the state's Senate leader, Kevin de León.

Neither candidate received the 60 percent of votes needed to win the party's endorsement.

In a likely jab at Feinstein, De León said at the state party convention Saturday, QUOTE -  "It should never take a primary challenge for California's leadership to stand up for California values," and he was "never fooled into believing that Donald Trump can be a good president."

Feinstein, a centrist Democrat, said last year Trump had the potential to be a good president and that she hoped he would. She's been in the Senate for 25 years.
