New details in the disappearance and murder of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham suggest the sophomore student was inside the suspect's apartment and car before she died.

Jesse Matthew is on trial for capital murder in the case. He was arrested in September 2014 after police say he was the last person to see Graham alive on the night of her disappearance.

Weeks later authorities found her remains on an abandoned property in a local park outside of Charlottesville.

During a pretrial hearing Monday, a detective testified that a bloodhound detected Graham's scent inside Matthew's apartment, on the passenger door of his car and at a nearby dumpster.

Matthew's defense team argued Graham never went inside the apartment and that there wasn't enough probable cause to justify a search of his home.

Matthew is no stranger to the courtroom. He's been sentenced to three life sentences for attempted capital murder and sexual assault on a woman in 2005. He also faces charges in the 2009 death of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.
