David's Bridal is getting praised for this:

Images of a model who wears a size 14. The promotional images are for the company's newest store in Glasgow, Scotland.

That model is Mercy Watson. She proudly touts on Instagram she's a "curvy mannequin," Australian-made and currently based in the Big Apple.

People have been commending David's Bridal for choosing Watson to represent the company.

Glamour says the average David's Bridal customer is size 14 — so it made sense for the company to pick a model who represented its client base.

The senior vice president of David's Bridal said he recognized customers were different shapes and sizes and wanted to show that diversity in the ads.

Other companies like Maurices have also featured plus-size models and received positive feedback.
