White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced that President Donald Trump will sign a government funding bill if it passes through Congress. But he will also declare a national emergency in order to address "national security" at the border.
The announcement came just before news that the Senate has passed the government funding bill.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell took the floor before the vote in order to announce news from a recent discussion he had with the President.
McConnell said: "I would say to all my colleagues as indicated, he's prepared to sign the bill. He will also be issuing a national emergency declaration at the same time."
Declaring a national emergency will allow President Trump to circumvent Congress in order to fund the border wall he has continually called for.
The bill now heads to the House for a vote before it will reach the President's desk for his signature.
