The United Nations says the U.S. may be violating the U.N. Convention Against Torture by force-feeding some detained migrants.

This announcement from the U.N. comes weeks after reports began to surface that ICE officials at an El Paso detention center were force-feeding immigrants who were staging a hunger strike.

The U.N.'s human rights office believes that force-feeding could constitute "ill treatment," which would violate the convention.

ICE was allowed to force-feed hunger-striking detainees by a court order issued last month.
