The latest employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics says U.S. employers added 128,000 jobs during the month of October.
The most notable job gains occurred in food services, social assistance and financial activities.
The unemployment rate did rise slightly to 3.6 percent, but it's being attributed to the 325,000 Americans who started looking for work. The unemployment rate continues to remain near a 50-year low.
According to CNN, hiring has slowed down compared to 2018, averaging 167,000 jobs per month versus 223,000 per month, but overall the report was stronger than economists had expected.
