The Turkish government reportedly has proof that missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi is dead.

An unnamed source told CNN that Turkish authorities possess visual and audio recordings showing Khashoggi getting killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Turkey's has maintained that the Washington Post columnist was killed inside the building after he was last seen entering the consulate on Oct 2. Saudi Arabia has denied the allegations.

Khashoggi used to be a Saudi government adviser, but has been critical of the current leadership. Some of his recent columns for the Post criticized Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Saudi Arabia agreed earlier this week to let Turkey investigate inside its Istanbul consulate. As of Friday morning, it's unclear if that search has already taken place.
