Trump and Kelly both speak their minds and don't care much for politics as usual.

Retired U.S. Marine Corps Gen. John F. Kelly starts his first day as President Donald Trump's chief of staff Monday. The two have reportedly grown close over the past few months.

Kelly is a former general and 45-year veteran Trump's been very outspoken in his fondness for generals. Kelly is the third to join the Trump administration's top ranks.

As secretary of homeland security, Kelly has worked to implement Trump's sometimes chaotic policies. He stood by the administration's so-called travel ban during its rollout and, despite criticism, has pushed for stricter immigration and travel policies.

The Bostonian's personality also seems to match that of the New Yorker president. He's willing to speak his mind when it comes to things like leakingsecurity and political bureaucracy.
