South Park Season Premiere Takes On Washington Redskins, NFL

For about the past 18 years, no one's been safe from the topical, hilarious and brutal criticism of Comedy Central's South Park. This time, TV's favorite 10-year-old boys tackled the NFL and the Washington Redskins mascot controversy. 

The episode, which aired Wednesday night, is already being praised as an instant classic.

"Guys, guys! I have total respect for you. When I named my company Washington Redskins it was out of deep appreciation for your team and your people."

The show hit on everything from the Redskins trademark being pulled earlier this year, the history of owner Dan Snyder defending the team's name — and it even had a robot NFL commissioner Roger Goodell voiced by Goodell's own press conference earlier this month.

ROGER GOODELL VIA WAGA: "In addition, our teams and league staff — everyone — will participate in education sessions starting in the next month."

DAN SNYDER: "What are you going to do now?"

ROGER GOODELL: "Everyone will participate in education sessions starting in the next month."

DAN SNYDER: "Ugh. This thing is broken!"

The episode, titled "Go Fund Yourself," follows the boys as they create a startup company through Kickstarter. Yes, Kickstarter and Silicon Valley startup culture got poked fun of, too.

Another thing fans of the show noticed was Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III, who appeared in promos for the episode Sunday night, being replaced by Kirk Cousins in Wednesday's broadcast.

RG3 is currently sidelined with an ankle injury and has been replaced on the real Redskins by Cousins, who some think should be the starting QB anyhow.

And, while we're not sure how Snyder, Goodell and other NFL staffers took the jokes, the show had the internet laughing. 

Deadspin writes, "It's nice to see the ol' boys back in their groove."

And Rolling Stone writes, "It was an episode for the ages, the kind that reminds you no one is capable of striking faster – and scoring more direct hits – [than] South Park."
