Bill Clinton And James Patterson's Novel Will Soon Get A TV Adaptation

Current President Donald Trump may have had "The Apprentice," but former President Bill Clinton just nabbed his own television show.

Showtime announced Friday it acquired the rights to adapt "The President Is Missing," a soon-to-be-published novel co-written by Clinton and best-selling author James Patterson.

We don't really know what the book is about yet, but Showtime describes it as "the startling story of a sitting U.S. president’s disappearance, with the level of detail that only someone who has held the office can know."

The book was announced earlier this year, marking Clinton's first novel as well as the first thriller ever co-authored by an American president.

Patterson currently holds the Guinness World Record for most No. 1 New York Times bestsellers, and Clinton is reportedly a longtime fan of his work.

Shortly after the book was announced, the pair reportedly began scoping out buyers for the television or film rights.

Considering the success of political dramas like "The West Wing," "House of Cards" and "Scandal," this move could be very lucrative.

Showtime didn't say when the TV adaptation would debut or even when it would begin production, but the novel is slated for a 2018 release.
