The U.S. Senate confirmed Jeffrey Rosen to be the next deputy attorney general.

On Thursday, senators voted 52-45 along party lines to confirm Rosen to the position, which was previously held by Rod Rosenstein.

Rosenstein left the Justice Department earlier this month after submitting a resignation letter to President Donald Trump.

Rosen was the deputy secretary at the Transportation Department. He also served as general counsel for the department and at the Office of Management and Budget. But he's never worked at the Justice Department and doesn't have experience as a prosecutor, which some argued should take him out of the running for deputy attorney general.
