Trump Signs Budget Deal To Reopen The Government

The government is back open, thanks to a two-year budget deal Congress passed early Friday morning.

The government officially ran out of cash when the clock ticked from Thursday into Friday. It could have been avoided if the Senate had voted on the bill before the Thursday deadline, but Sen. Rand Paul used a procedural tactic to prevent that from happening.

The spending bill increases military and non-defense spending by almost $300 billion over the next two years, but it doesn't address the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. 

After the Senate approved the measure, it was sent to the House, where representatives voted in favor of it. The bill was then sent to President Donald Trump, who signed it into law.
