Another candidate has thrown their hat into the ring to be the next Democratic nominee for president.
New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced Tuesday on the “Late Show With Stephen Colbert” that she was forming an exploratory committee to run for president in 2020.
In her announcement, Sen. Gillibrand said she's running because, "As a young mom I am going to fight for other people’s kids as hard as I would fight for my own." She added that she believes "health care should be a right and not a privilege," and also advocated for better public schools.
Sen. Gillibrand has been a critic of President Donald Trump, going so far as saying the president should resign in the face of several sexual misconduct allegations back in 2017. Also in that year, she called for former Sen. Al Franken to resign amid sexual misconduct allegations.
