Another shooting on a college campus — this time at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, S.C.

According to  WLTX, South Carolina State University officials confirmed one student has died and identified him as 20-year-old Brandon Robinson. The new station reports Robinson was on the school’s football team.

WIS-TV reports the shooting happened at about 1:30 p.m. Eastern time outside the dormitories known as Hugine Suites.

The Times and Democrat reports an "active manhunt" ensued. The Orangeburg police chief said in a news conference Friday afternoon that eyewitnesses identified four suspects — and those suspects had all left the campus, which went into lockdown.

The school explained that lockdown in in a statement: "Students are safe. The perimeter of the campus has been secured, but the suspects have not yet been apprehended. For this reason, the University has initiated a campus lockdown in the event the perpetrators attempt to return to the campus." (Via South Carolina State University)

According to WLTX, police at Claflin University — which is across the street from South Carolina State — identified a single suspect in an alert to its students. But South Carolina State has not issued any names or descriptions.

South Carolina's state law enforcement division is on the scene.
