Beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams has died at age 63. The shocking news came Monday evening from the Sheriffs' Office in Marin County, California and was quickly picked up by several outlets.

In a statement, the Sheriffs' office said Williams was found unconscious in his home around noon Monday. The office's coroner suspects suicide by asphyxia as the cause of death but says an investigation is underway.

Williams' publicist confirmed that the actor had passed away and wrote, "He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss."

Williams was an Academy Award winner for his supporting role in 1997's "Good Will Hunting" and was one of the premier comedic and dramatic actors of the 1980s and 90s for his turns in films like "Jumanji," and "Mrs. Doubtfire."

More recently, Williams starred in CBS' "The Crazy Ones," though the show was canceled in May after only one season.

But the actor did have other projects in the works, including a sequel for "Mrs. Doubtfire."

Williams is survived by his wife and three children. We'll continue to update as more details on the actor's death are made public.
