On Wednesday, President Donald Trump signed the fourth bill in just three weeks meant to combat human trafficking.
The Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act is aimed at tightening the criteria for whether countries are meeting standards for eliminating trafficking.
The three other recently signed bills aim to strengthen programs supporting survivors, authorize upwards of $400 million to fight trafficking and establishing new initiatives that will combat human traffickers.
President Trump recently proclaimed January 2019 as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. More than 8,500 trafficking cases were reported to the National Human Trafficking Hotline last year alone.
