Watch him race while you can. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will retire at the end of this year.

The 42-year-old NASCAR driver has more than 600 races under his belt and 26 cup wins.

But ESPN notes concussions have been a issue for Earnhardt. He missed the last 18 races of the 2016 season because of a head injury.

He still plans to finish out this season, where he's currently in 24th place in the standings. His last race is scheduled for November.

Earnhardt's team at Hendrick Motorsports confirmed the news but didn't name a replacement driver.

This means league will lose its biggest star. Earnhardt has been named NASCAR's most popular driver for 14-straight seasons.
