Christine SlusserTroy James Knapp, better known as Utah's "Mountain Man" for living off the land for years, has been sentenced to 10-and-a-half years in prison after accepting a plea deal.

Outside Online even went as far as calling Knapp a legend, noting he stole those firearms from cabins he broke into. Reports also say he would sometimes steal whiskey as well.
Knapp pleaded guilty to firing at officers Monday, essentially closing the federal case. Not long after, he appeared in district court and pleaded guilty to an additional 10 felony counts from the state.
Each one of those charges comes with a one to 15 year sentence, and the state sentences will be served concurrently with that federal sentence.
"Knapp also helped police find where he had stashed several guns in the mountains.
"Ultimately, without Mr. Knapp's cooperation, we'd never be able to come to this agreement, he certainly made amends in the best way possible." (Via KSL-TV)
The Spectrum points out Knapp, who evaded arrest for seven years, will get credit with the 14 months he already spent locked up while awaiting trial.
And the fact Knapp lived off the land has gotten plenty of attention. Even the U.S. District Court Judge told Knapp he should write a book, noting he'd have "plenty of time" to do so.
