Authorities say they have found Sabrina Allen, a child who was missing for 12 years. Sabrina disappeared when she was just 4 years old and is now 17.

According to a media release by the investigation firm used to find her, Sabrina was rescued from Mexico in a secret mission and has been returned to her father, Greg Allen. Her noncustodial mother, Dara Llorens, has been taken into custody.

Allen was given custody of Sabrina upon his divorce from Llorens. Llorens was then listed as a person of interest when Sabrina went missing.

The story was featured on "America's Most Wanted" at the time.

"For two years Dara had been threatening to abduct Sabrina and on April 20th she did. She took her 4-year-old daughter and vanished."

The release says FBI, U.S. Marshals, Texas police and Mexican police all worked together in the rescue mission. It also says Llorens struggled upon arrest and injured a Mexican police officer.

Unfortunately, cases like this one are all too common. Child Find of America, Inc. reports 78 percent of abductors are noncustodial parents.

The FBI defines a parental kidnapping as a parent taking a child younger than 16 out of the state or country without their custodial parent's permission. It has more than 20 people listed on its site as suspected parental kidnappers.

Sabrina is being held at an undisclosed location and being evaluated by medical experts. She is said to be in good physical health.
