Attorney Michael Avenatti has been arrested over allegations of felony domestic violence.
Avenatti strongly denies the allegations. He tweeted: "I want to be clear: I DID NOT commit domestic violence nor have I ever committed domestic violence."
I want to be clear: I DID NOT commit domestic violence nor have I ever committed domestic violence. I did not strike any woman nor have I ever. I did not strike my ex-wife in the face nor did I hit anyone else in the face. I am a decent man & I look forward to being exonerated.— Michael Avenatti (@MichaelAvenatti) November 15, 2018
Avenatti came into the spotlight earlier this year when he represented Stormy Daniels in a high-profile legal battle against President Donald Trump. He's also flirted with the idea of running for president in 2020 and has become somewhat of a public adversary of the current commander-in-chief.
The Vermont Democratic Party canceled Avenatti's scheduled appearances Friday and Saturday over the domestic violence allegations. The organization's spokesman said all ticket sales will be refunded.
