Christine SlusserKTVU reporter Heather Holmes was robbed during a live report on that very subject.
Holmes was covering a woman who was beaten and robbed in Oakland, California.
"A young woman, with a bandage wrapped around her head, the victim of a brutal mugging."
It wasn't until after the report Holmes realized what happened. She tweeted out:
"R u kidding me? Doing a live report at @oaklandpoliceca headquarters & my purse is stolen from the live truck! We were parked outside #OPD!!" (Via Twitter / @hholmesktvu)
Holmes also mentioned her bank card was used within 20 minutes of it being stolen. (Via Twitter / @hholmesktvu)
The incident was not caught on camera.
The Huffington Post reports the Oakland area has become "especially troublesome for reporters lately."
A KPIX cameraperson was robbed on-air in Oakland in 2012. You see at the end of the segment the camera is jarred, presumably at the moment it was taken.
The New York Times noted by spring of last year, every single TV news station had been robbed at least once and some hired private security to escort them in Oakland.
As for Holmes, she canceled her credit cards and had her locks changed, noting she had learned her lesson to always lock her doors — even in front of a police station.
