Comedian Joan Rivers is reportedly on life support in critical but stable condition at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.
Fox News: "Rivers was taken to the hospital Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest during a medical procedure at a doctors appointment."
At that doctor's appointment Rivers was undergoing a procedure on her vocal cords.
Many sources are citing this TMZ article for the latest update. An unnamed source told the outlet, "the family will have to decide in the next couple of days whether to keep the 81-year-old on life support." But, that source also says her family is hopeful she will fight through it.
According to NBC, Joan Rivers' daughter, Melissa Rivers, released a statement Sunday, simply saying, "Thank you for your continued love and support. We are keeping our fingers crossed."
But the New York Daily News reports Melissa Rivers is "in denial" about her mom's condition, citing yet another unnamed source as saying "She still thinks everything is going to be OK. She is refusing to admit that a world might exist without her mother in it."
WCBS tried to get Rivers' friends to talk outside the hospital.
"A close friend on Rivers, Marjorie Stern leaving the hospital. Can you tell us how she's doing?"
STERN: "I'm so sorry, I really can't do that."
But Fox News did say it obtained a statement from Mount Sinai. A hospital representative said "Her family wants to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support. ... We will provide an update on her condition as it becomes available."
However, no one from the hospital has come forward to confirm or deny the recent news on Joan's condition. Late last week, Melissa said her mother is in a medically induced coma and is resting comfortably.
