The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will soon decide if the Trump administration was justified in its decision to end DACA. It will be the first federal appeals court to do so.

In January, a federal judge temporarily blocked the decision. He said former President Barack Obama did not overstep his authority by creating the program as the Trump administration argued he did and that DACA recipients were "likely to suffer serious, irreparable harm" if it was canceled.

DACA grants deportation protection to about 800,000 people, known as "Dreamers," who were brought to the U.S. as children. The program allows them to legally live and work in the U.S.

The Trump administration wants the former ruling thrown out. Some outlets speculate the case will likely end up before the Supreme Court.
