More Than 230 Dead In Egypt Mosque Attack

At least 235 people were killed and more than 100 injured in an attack on a mosque in northern Egypt on Friday, according to state media.

The mosque is in the northern part of the country's Sinai Peninsula.

A source told the Guardian that militants fired on worshippers as Friday prayers were ending. The militants also reportedly used explosives to carry out the attack.

Egypt has been battling militants in the Sinai for years, but the insurgency picked up after President Mohamed Morsi was ousted in 2013.

As of Friday morning, no one had claimed responsibility for the attack

Egypt's current president, Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi, has called for three days of mourning.
