China's Communist Party wants to remove the part of the country's constitution that limits a president's time in office to two five-year terms, according to state-run media

This could mean President Xi Jinping could stay in power for longer than previously expected. The change would also remove any term limits for the country's vice presidents, too.

Xi became president in 2013 and was expected to step down in 2023.

Reports that China was discussing changes to the constitution came out in December, but there was no word on what the country was planning to change.

Even though it's unclear how long Xi could stay in the presidency, one of China's state-run newspapers reportedly said the proposed change wouldn't let the president have a lifelong tenure.
