The Boy Scouts Are Getting A New Name

Since Boy Scouts of America is expanding the Boy Scout program to welcome girls, it wanted the name to be more inclusive.

The Boy Scouts of America is changing things up after more than a century.

On Wednesday, the organization announced its program for 11- to 17-year-olds will soon be called Scouts BSA.

The program wanted a more inclusive moniker because it's expanding to welcome girls in 2019.

Boy Scouts of America is also allowing girls to join its younger-skewing Cub Scouts program, but since that name is already pretty gender-neutral, it's not changing.

The Scouts BSA name change will take effect in February.
