A little more than a month after Sears filed for bankruptcy, the company is reportedly looking to pay its top executives millions of dollars in bonuses.

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Sears asked a bankruptcy court to approve a total of $8.5 million in bonuses to 18 executives over the next two financial quarters.

The outlet says the company also wants to shell out another $16.9 million in bonuses to 322 "non-insider" workers.

Sears announced it was filing for bankruptcy the same day it was due to make a $134 million debt payment. The once-successful retailer hasn't exactly been in a position to pay that back. It hasn't turned a profit since 2010 and has been losing stores and customers for years.

The court is expected to decide on Sears' bonus request on Dec. 20.
