Steven SparkmanActress Ann B. Davis, best known for her role as the witty maid Alice on "The Brady Bunch," died Sunday at the age of 88.
Davis spent five seasons and numerous reunion appearances playing the quirky maid, a role she told the Archive of American Television was just fun. (Via CBS )
"They wanted an intermediary between the kids and the adults, and between the boys and the girls and whatever. And they gave me funny things to do, and I did them funny. That's the way it's supposed to work."
Davis's career spanned a half-century, including commercials, film, television and theater. In that time, she won two Emmys and even got a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. (Via WAND, Los Angeles Times)
TMZ reports Davis suffered injuries from a fall Saturday at her home in San Antonio, Texas, and never regained consciousness. She died Sunday morning.
The news came as a shock to her friends because they all said she was in good health for an 88-year-old.
Fellow Brady Bunch star Florence Henderson called Davis a "dear friend and colleague" and said "I spoke with her a couple months ago and she was doing great!" (Via Facebook / Florence Henderson)
Davis was reportedly an active member of the Episcopal Church, who, according to TMZ, are handling funeral preparations.
