Someone, somewhere has signed-up to be the world's first private moon tourist -- and soon we'll know who.
On Thursday, SpaceX announced it's "signed the world’s first private passenger to fly around the Moon" on it's BFR, or Big Falcon Rocket. SpaceX is still building the BFR, so this moon mission likely won't happen anytime soon.
When asked on Twitter if the company's founder and CEO Elon Musk will be the passenger, Musk replied back with a Japanese flag emoji.
Only 24 people have ever traveled to the moon and just 12 have walked on its surface. NASA astronaut Gene Cernan was the last one during the final Apollo mission in 1972.
