Marco Rubio Thinks We Need More Welders And Less Philosophers
Nov. 10, 2015
Marco Rubio believes in jobs where people can build things and wasted no time letting the crowd know as much during the GOP debate.
"For the life of me I don't know why we stigmatize vocational education," he said. "Welders make more money than philosophers. We need more welders than philosophers."
Matthew Yglesias over at Vox actually looked at the average salary of those who majored in philosophy versus those who work in welding and found that philosophy majors do in fact make more (albeit he admites there isn't much good data in earnings of philosophers).
It should be mentioned that Carly Fiorina majored in philosophy. Go figure.
Does Rubio know Fiorina was philosophy major? (She doubled in medieval history, which will help her fight ISIS) https://t.co/DDfoRxqmVt— TJ Helmstetter (@TheTJHelm) November 11, 2015
