Katy Perry Wants You To Register To Vote — So She Got Naked

September 27, 2016

It's National Voter Registration Day, and there's only one way to celebrate — by registering to vote, obviously.

Celebrities and politicians across the country are encouraging Americans to register to vote in the Nov. 8 presidential election, but some are getting more creative than others. Pop star Katy Perry teamed up and stripped down with Funny or Die as part of its "Everyone Votes" campaign with Rock the Vote.

In the video, Perry awakes on the morning of Election Day with smudged makeup and messy hair flecked with bits of popcorn and even a lollipop. She says: "Nov. 8 is Election Day, and I've got some great news. This year, you can look like sh** when you vote. Yep, I've briefly scanned the Constitution, and nowhere does it say you can't just roll out of bed and come to the polls in whatever state you woke up in. In the name of democracy, any just-out-of-bed look is A-OK."

And then she heads to the polls in her American flag pajamas, complimenting her fellow voters' casual looks: onesies, Superman briefs and a giant T-shirt. But then, she says, she actually sleeps naked, so she strips off the PJs in the middle of her polling place and is immediately accosted by police.

She protests, "I read the Constitution, and I know I have the right to vote naked." But that's not exactly true, so she's thrown in the back of a cop car (with another would-be nude voter, comedian Joel McHale) and carted off as she admits her error.

Perry, an avid Hillary Clinton supporter, has been campaigning for the candidate all election season, even performing at the Democratic National Convention. She joins countless other public figures urging Americans to register and vote.

Convinced yet? You can register to vote here.
