May 31, 2016

Here's a spoonful of sugar: Emily Blunt is the new Mary Poppins!

Newsy first reported the actress was in talks for the film, and Disney officially announced Tuesday that Blunt will play the magical nanny.

"Hamilton" creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda will play opposite Blunt as a new character named Jack.

"Into the Woods" director Rob Marshall will direct the film, and the screenplay will be based on "The Mary Poppins Stories" by P.L. Travers.

The sequel, titled "Mary Poppins Returns," will fly into theaters on December 25, 2018.
