Meet Magnolia Maymuru, the first aboriginal contestant for Miss World Australia.
Maminydjama Maymuru — who models under the name Magnolia — is from the indigenous community Yirrkala and will represent the Northern Territory in the Miss World Australia finals.

In an interview with ABC, Maymuru described how she hopes her career will break stereotypes of aboriginal life and create opportunities for other indigenous models.
"I hope it gives [the industry] a push to look at more women up in Arnhem Land. I hope it gives them an urge to come up and actually check people out rather than thinking, 'There's one and that's enough,'" Maymuru said.
