If The Comment Doesn't Make Sense … Embroider It?

August 15, 2016

In the course of our research for another project, we stumbled on this story from Poynter and thought it was hilarious.

Basically, Hannah Wise of the Dallas Morning News started embroidering some nonsensical comments on a whim. Now it's become a pastime with a dedicated Instagram account, and honestly, it's pretty awesome.

"If this made the Dallas paper, then that guy is toast." A buttered and charred contribution by @mshamburge ❤️📰🍞🔥

We probably won't be making pillows out of your comments, but we'll do our best to respond to them.

Aaaand that brings us to a little announcement: We're working on updating our commenting policy on our social media platforms! Woohoo! OK, we know that doesn't sound super exciting, but it's actually a big deal.

What we want: to help people understand each other and encourage thoughtful discussion in a comfortable space.

What we don't want: to allow the comments to become a cesspool of hate and harassment. And we certainly don't want to keep any voices out of the discussion.

We'll make an announcement when we have a finalized version, and it will be publicly posted for all of you to see.
