Wait. Ed Snowden Kept All Of That Data In A Rubik's Cube?

April 27, 2016

We're getting our first look at "Snowden," a movie about the famous/infamous NSA whistleblower who blew the lid off government snooping.

In the trailer, we see Joseph Gordon-Levitt convincingly take on Edward Snowden (and his voice pattern). The first look reminds us that Snowden was in a U.S. Army Reserve enlistee before breaking both of his legs — and he had a thing for Rubik's Cubes.

It's well-documented that when filmmaker Laura Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald first met with Snowden in Hong Kong, he instructed them they would see a man carrying a Rubik's Cube. That man was a 29-year-old Snowden.

Whether he was able to fit millions of documents on an SD card and make it out of a government facility with that card stashed in a Rubik's Cube is another story.

"Snowden" hits theaters Sept. 16.
