Here's Why People Were Tweeting About The Notorious B.I.G. On Columbus DayBy Katey Psencik | October 10, 2016
Monday was Columbus Day, and as usual, the holiday generated a lot of chatter on social media.
The holiday is a cause of controversy because it celebrates Christopher Columbus' discovery of the Americas, though natives inhabited the land years before his arrival. Many cities have chosen instead to celebrate the day as Indigenous Peoples Day.
But some people took the Columbus boycott a step further.
Inspired by Jay Z's line in "Oceans" from his 2013 album "Magna Carta Holy Grail" ("I'm anti-Santa Maria / Only Christopher we acknowledge is Wallace"), fans of Christopher Wallace — aka the Notorious B.I.G. — had someone else to commemorate on Columbus Day.
My daughter asked why do I have to go to work on Columbus day I told her the only Christopher we acknowledge is Wallace 😂.— Chanel (@Onelly18) October 10, 2016

Aboriginal, Indigenous peoples of this land, I Salute you not only this day but everyday!
The joke got old fast for some people, though.
